Editing: Title Credits

Image
Hey! Im continue working on the editing of my short film. I've been meticulously editing my short film, focusing on the title credits. Initially, I experimented with various fonts and animations available in CapCut for the opening credits. I ultimately opted for a minimalist font, utilizing a classic black and white color scheme because it was clear to read. For the animation, I chose a  'glitch' effect followed by a fade-out transition. These credits were positioned at different points on the screen, each displayed for approximately 1.5 seconds to maintain the same pace.To emphasize the film's title, I employed a different approach. The title appears in white, accompanied by a fade-in and fade-out animation, combined with a movement effect. The title is prominently placed in the center of the screen and presented in a larger size than the other credits, designed to immediately capture the viewer's attention. My intent in differentiating the film's title in this...

Editing: Background Music

Image
Welcome back!I finished a lot of the editing I had to do.  I picked the background music for my blog. I wanted to find music that was suspenseful but wasn’t too horror music vibes. I looked through the CapCut music options and I found one that I liked it. It took me awhile to find the music that I liked best because there was so many different options. While picking the music I had in mind the music that is used in sci-if movie from my previous research I have done.in previous research the music was like space music and  ambient music. The one I went with was  like that type of vibe. Then, I put the music throughout the whole video and it definitely made the video better. I used the same music throughout the whole video.  I wanted to create a flashback scenes where the characters remembers a moment that happened in the past.  So the way I did this was by putting and black and white filter over the scene and I found a sound that sounded like the characters ...

Editing: Sound Effects

Image
Welcome back! In this blog I resumed my editing and finished more of editing. I started off with editing a count down timer to specific scenes. I added the timer  to the phone scenes. I decided to edited the timer on to the phone instead of having the actual timer on my phone when I recorded because I thought it would be easier. So in order to edit the count down timer on the phone I had to first go to the app “clock”. In this app you can set timers and alarm clocks. I would set a timer of my desired time and screen record the timer. After that I went into CapCut and overlayed the video of the clock and adjusted the size so it fit onto the phone screen. This made it look like the timer wasn’t edited on. I removed the background of the timer overlay to make the timer be the same background as the phone and it looked more natural. I did that about 10 more times in my video because I had multiple scenes showing the amount of time left on the phone.  For those scenes I looked for ...

Editing: Putting Footage Together

Image
Welcome back! The app I’m using to edit is CapCut and it’s the same editing app I used in my past projects. I love using this app because it makes editing videos easier to edit and I’m familiar with how to use the app. CapCut has many features to help  accomplish the visions or your video. I’ll be using these features to my advantage like there different lightings and effects. I’ll be editing and using the CapCut app on my phone.  I first imported all the videos into CapCut and I had to decided what takes I would use to edit with. This process was time consuming because for every scene I had 2 or 3 takes of that scene. Most of the takes were all good but some were better. Like I liked the acting better in one scene or the camera angle was done more smoothly. After deciding the clips I put the scenes into chronological order in the app. I want to start my editing in chronological order because I work better starting from start to end then starting in the middle or any oth...

Reseting The Set

Image
Welcome back! Filming was all done but before I could begin the editing progress I have to clean up the set and get it cleaned. I made sure to make cleaning the set after use a priority because I know other people use the set and I don’t want them to have to clean up after our mess. So I prepared and bought multiple different cleaning supplies to prepare cleaning the set. My videographer also helped me clean my set. Cleaning the set didn’t take as long as I anticipated. It took around a hour. I cleaned the props and costumes. I also cleaned the room. That’s all I had to finishing cleaning the set.  During filming I accidentally broke an item on the set. I broke a flower vase that was supposed to serve as decoration in the film. But I wasn’t able to get another vase or save the vase. So I decided to make another vase so the set could be fully reset. I had to throw away some props that I used. I threw away the printed calendar I used as a prop for my film. I took pictures of the cale...

Last Filming Day

Image
Welcome back! The only thing left that was needed to film in the last two pages of our storyboard. This day was going to be the longest day to film because we had to film more scenes then the other two filming days.  The filming day began after school and no new props or settings were established. My storyline consists of the same setting, costumes, makeup, and props. So this made filming so much more faster and easier. The scenes we also are filming are the exact way we filmed the other scenes since my storyline is about a girl living in the same time loop. So we had to basically film the exact same scenes but change a little things. The only that was changes was the acting I had to do. This time I had to act more shocked and confused. The acting was hard for me to do because I’m not used to acting. This is one of the few time I had acted before. But since I had to act the last previous days I was starting to get more used to acting. We had more breaks than usual so we had t...

Filming Day

Image
Welcome back! Today is another filming day and I’m trying to film the second page of my storyboard. So to accomplish filming the second page of my storyboard I have to work with different locations and props. The location that will be filmed at will be at the kitchen and living room in my house. And as for the prop it would be my dog. So it’s gonna be my first time working with my dog. I don’t know how well my dog is going to work with me when I’m filming. But I think my dog will do a okay job because he is well behaved. We started off with the scene of the girl looking out into the window while drinking her orange juice. The scene was easy to do and only took 10 minutes to complete the scene. The next scenes followed were the one with my dog. I have two dogs and I decided to use the dog that would sit still. I had planned for my dog to start barking but it’s hard for my dog to bark without any reason. So I decided that I would edit the dog barking because I was unable to figure o...

Rehearsals & Filming

Image
Welcome Back! Before filming we decided to do a a short rehearsal. I started off rehearsing my lines and then my videographer started taking some practice takes. We rehearsed for about 30 minutes. After rehearsal we decided to break and eat the snacks and have water. Then I did my preplanned make up and put on my costume. Transitioning was an easy process and it didn’t took long because I had everything set up beforehand. After that we started to film. We decided to film the first beginning scenes of the film. So the beginning scenes starts off with me waking up in my bed and checking my phone. We took about 4 takes. We decided to take 4 takes so I had more options to work with when it came down to the editing. After each take we reviewed the footage and had a conversation on how we can make it better. So after those scenes we continued finishing filming more scenes. We filmed the first page of my storyboard. It was successful and it was really fun working together with the videog...
