Editing: Sound Effects

Welcome back! In this blog I resumed my editing and finished more of editing. I started off with editing a count down timer to specific scenes. I added the timer  to the phone scenes. I decided to edited the timer on to the phone instead of having the actual timer on my phone when I recorded because I thought it would be easier. So in order to edit the count down timer on the phone I had to first go to the app “clock”. In this app you can set timers and alarm clocks. I would set a timer of my desired time and screen record the timer. After that I went into CapCut and overlayed the video of the clock and adjusted the size so it fit onto the phone screen. This made it look like the timer wasn’t edited on. I removed the background of the timer overlay to make the timer be the same background as the phone and it looked more natural. I did that about 10 more times in my video because I had multiple scenes showing the amount of time left on the phone.

For those scenes I looked for sounds of a clock ticking because I wanted to add that suspense in my film and show the limited time the person had left. I looked on CapCut through there sound button option. CapCut has many different music and sounds that you can use. I scrolled through there different sounds and audios and found the sound that I was happy with. I then used that same clock ticking sound and copy and paste it to those other scenes. Towards the ends of my film when it shows the countdown on the phone and it hits zero I put a different sound. I put alarm ringing sound since the timer ended and usually when an alarm is set it makes a sound when the alarm goes off. I then looked for some more audios to find a sound of an alarm going off by using the same process to find of finding the ticking sound by going to CapCut.

The next thing I worked on is putting the different sound effects into different scenes. For the scene in the bathroom and the water is running I decided to enhance the sound by making the sound of the water running louder then the other sounds in the film. I also made the sound of pouring the orange juice into the glass louder. I decided to make these small elements louder because I wanted to enhance the sound experience for the viewers and make it feel like they’re right there in the story. That was all of the sound effects I added into my blog. See you in the next one.
