Production Blog: Finishing The Music Video

Image
Hi, welcome back! There wasn't much things I had to do. But after finishing editing the last scene, the last thing I had to do was review and look at everything. My partner and I both looked over the music video together and she helped me edit everything. We decided to adjust the lighting and add filters to the video since the quality wasn't the best. We made the video color and brighter and used the smooth filter. Since the song was too long we also decided to cut it. The song was around 3 minutes long so we cut it to be around a minute. This was easy to do because I picked a part from the song that would be able to transition to the end of the song that was unnoticeable and in a natural way. After that I wanted to try out different effects on the video to see if it would be better using that effect. I tried out many different effects but I end up not liking  any of them or thought it wouldn't fit the music video the best. After that I went back to fixing the video filter...

Production Blog: Putting It Together

Image
Hi, welcome back. I continued using capcut and editing the clips together. The last scene I edited was her walking the day time but now I'm going to the edit of her walking at night. It's supposed to be a transition from her walking in the day to night time. In this scene I didn't edit that much but put the clips together and trimmed it a little bit. The next scene I did the same thing also. I aligned the video with the frame and adjusted the sizing and would trim it. For the next scene I did a fade out effect into the next scene. For the next scene I edited her sitting down and looking at the river and trimmed it. I then did also a fade in effect into the next scene in the same area. For the next scene I did fade in into the next scene also. For the next scenes I had to keep trimming it and adjusting it because it would be too short or to fast. But I finally was able to find the length that I like. Next clips I did the same thing and then added a blur effect into the next...

Production Blog: Using Capcut

Image
For my editing process, I used the same editing app that I used  for my commercial. Which is capcut. The first thing that I did was open a new project and added all my clips that I filmed. I then imported and screen recorded the music I was going to use and then added it into the video. For my editing I started from the very beginning of the song and went in order in editing the scenes. The first scene I edited was the beginning scene of where she is sitting on the floor against her bed and looking at her phone when her boyfriend broke up with her over text. What I did first was line it up with the music and trimmed it. I then added text over the video. I added the song name and used text effects and then added another text that said music video. The next scene is the over shoulder shot of what she is texting on her phone while sitting against the bed. For this scene I added the text message bubble overlays on the sides of the screen since it was hard to see what she was texting on...

Production Blog: Going to the river and my house

Image
The next scene I filmed was at the park by my house. Both of us walked to the location and then I started looking for a spot where I could film. At first I thought I found a spot but when I recorded the video came out dark and you couldn't see anything in the video. So I decided we had to chose a different location. Since it was dark I decided to chose a location next to a lighted area. The first scene that I filmed was a pan shot of my group member acting sitting at the edge of the floor and looking at the river. Also as a prop we had a envelope and you can see it in the pan shot right next to her. The next shot I took is a medium shot on the side of her opening and reading the letter. I wanted to get a different view of her reading the letter so I also did a over the shoulder shot. The next scene I filmed was a low angle. To do the low angle I had to get really low on the ground and then filmed her throwing away the letter in the trash can. I did almost every shot in one take. Th...

Production Blog: Going to Publix

Image
On the first day of filming I went to our first location. Our first location is Publix and we both walked there since it was close by my house. After arriving at the location the first thing I did was start recording. The device I used to record was my phone. I carried a paper of a outline of what I had to do and what shots I had to do so I knew what to do.The very first thing I filmed was the store. I wanted to get establishing shots of the location so that's what I did. I then went across the street to get another angle of the location. Next I started filming my group member who was acting in the music video. I told her to go in the store like she was going to buy something. So I filmed her walking into the store. Then I brought a flower that I gave her to use as a prop. So she can hold the prop like she just have bought it from the store. I then film another scene where she is walking out of the store with the flowers in her hand. Filming these scene's were extremely easy t...

Production Blog: Schedule

Image
Before we begin our film, I need to decide on what scenes I was going to film first. So I decided to make a schedule on what days I was going to film each scenes. For our music video we have four different locations. One location is farther from the other locations while the other three locations are relatively close to each other. The four locations are m bedroom, my neighborhood street, the park, and Publix which is a grocery store. I decided for the first scene that were going to film will be at the Publix location which is the farthest. I decided that we will film this scene first because it was farther from where we lived and doing this first will be better because I wouldn't have to worry about if I couldn't go this location later due to time or anything else. I would film this after school around 4pm-6pm.I chose these times because it would still be daytime and the scenes needs to be shot and day time. The next scene that I will film is the scenes on the street of our n...
