My planning for my short film

Welcome back! This blog will give a detailed overview of my agenda and plan for achieving my short film. Starting off with the location I plan to film in my house. I decided that filming at my house would be convenient and cost efficient. I would film in various different spots of my house. I want to film some scenes in my bathroom, bedroom, and my kitchen.

For the casting, I’m planning to star in the film as the protagonist. My film focus on one person life and the situation they are in so to emphasis this I only wanted one actor to be in the film. Due to being the person starring the person in the film I would need someone to record. I decided to let my sister be the videographer while I also help direct everything. Having my sister record makes things more easy because due to living together I don’t need to arrange any transportation. I want to include my dogs in the background like background actors because I think it helps gives the effect of a regularly person and makes it more relatable to the viewers. The environment would also be more fun to work in and uplifted with my dogs involved.

To ensure the safety and health of the participants involved, regular breaks and a balanced schedule will be provided. Throughout filming we will have 30-60 minutes breaks to have time to relax from all the hard work we put in. This will help us not burn out and be able to continue working later. Snacks will be easily accessible and so is water at all times. Food is important to have so we feel energized and don’t feel down from not eating. Lastly, an adult will supervise us to be on standby and assist in any situation. This will create a safe environment and makes us prepared for anything to come.

In order to create a casual environment in my film I plan to incorporate day to day items like a phone as a prop. The phone prop is a very important part of making this short film. The story is about the girl being stuck in a never ending time loop and the phone plays the role in showing the time and how it’s being consistently repeated. The phone will show the time and date which will be used to tell the audience the situation. Other props that will be included are items like tooth brush, water, and makeup and skin care products. These props will be used to show the protagonist getting ready for what seems to be a regular normal day. This is also to give the audience the same idea that it’s a normal day when it really isn’t.

The costumes is the easiest part of preparing for making this short film. What I want the costumes to be is a very casual pajamas. This is easy for me because I already own the costumes. The use of pajamas will show that the person has just woke up and was sleeping. So everything about to occur is happening in the early morning and it’s very sudden and unexpected.

The schedule is going to be spread out but also planned to at least work every week. My schedule starts off with creating and deciding a storyboard on how everything will be played out. I then can use the storyboard to help me direct when I start filming. Then when that has been done I will begin filming. I plan to film in January through  February. Then after I will begin to edit the footage. So that is my schedule and plan.

If something were not to work out like the location for any reasons then my backup plan would be to film in the park that’s nearby my house or in my neighborhood. More about my backup plan is that if my phone was broken and I can’t record I plan to use my other device like my iPad or use one of my family member phones.
